Coordinated Admission Program Universities The University of Texas – Pan American
According to Forbes rankings of America's Best Public Colleges, The University of Texas – Pan American is ranked the third highest within The University of Texas System, fifth highest public school in Texas, and 14th out of all 29 Texas institutions of higher education on the list (Forbes, August 2011). Being ranked one of the top public universities in Texas is quite an honor, but when that ranking is based on student satisfaction and graduate success, you know you’ve got a winner. We invite you to share our pride by checking out UTPA today.
Located in Edinburg, Texas, a three-time All-America City, UTPA sits in the middle of the culturally rich Rio Grande Valley. We are also just over an hour’s drive from beautiful South Padre Island — one of the nation’s most popular Spring Break destinations.
With 58 bachelor’s, 57 master’s, 3 doctoral and 2 cooperative doctoral degrees to choose from, you’re sure to find the right academic fit. And even with our enrollment of more than 19,000 students, you’ll still find small classes, personal attention from faculty and convenient residence halls. That’s what helps make UTPA one of the best public universities in the U.S.…and that’s what will help make YOU feel right at home.
Financial need is determined once you submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may pick up a paper FAFSA from your high school guidance counselor or you may request that an application be mailed to your home by calling 1-800-433-3243. If you haven't done so already, you may file an application electronically on the FAFSA web site or visit the UTPA Student Financial Services site for step-by-step instructions for completing the FAFSA.
If you applied for financial aid for UT Austin (by completing the FAFSA) but plan to attend UTPA as part of the Coordinated Admission Program, you must make certain that UT Pan Am is authorized to receive your FAFSA information. The UTPA school code is 003599.
If you did not originally designate UTPA to receive your information, you can make the correction to your FAFSA in one of several ways:
Options for Correcting Your FAFSA
Paper Student Aid Report (SAR)
If you have your paper SAR, add UT Pan Am’s FAFSA school code (003599) to the section where you can make updates/corrections. Sign the report and return it to the address indicated for corrections.
Call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.
You will need the Data Release Number (DRN) printed on your SAR to make the correction by phone.
UTPA is proud to celebrate the addition of Unity Hall, the newest residence hall to the UTPA community. The Office of Residence Life has many opportunities available for living on campus that provide not only a place to live but the ultimate university experience.
Under the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), undergraduate students entering Texas public institutions of higher education must be assessed for readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved the following four testing instruments to determine students’ readiness to enroll in college level courses:
- Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA)
A student needs to select and take only one of the above assessments to meet the requirements of TSI. There are a number of ways to be exempt from taking one of the TSI tests.
For questions about meeting the TSI requirements, contact:
