Requirements and restrictions School of ARCHITECTURE

In addition to submitting a complete application for admission, freshman applicants to the School of Architecture should also review the following information regarding special application requirements and admission restrictions.

  • Essay D: Architecture applicants must submit a response to Essay D (the Major-Specific Essay) as part of their complete application; Essay D may replace Essay A in meeting the two-essay requirement. (Architecture applicants who apply for scholarships, however, must also submit Essay A as part of their scholarship application.)
  • Admission Standards: Standards for admission to Architecture are similar to but higher than those for admission to the university.
  • Fall-only Admission: First-time freshmen must begin their studies in a fall semester.
  • Preparation: Students considering architecture should take humanities and elective art classes, such as drawing, and AP courses (if available) in physics, pre-calculus and calculus.
