Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from the great state of Michigan and a proud graduate of Grand Haven High School. As a former Buccaneer, I grew up in a small town on Lake Michigan, also known as “Coast Guard City USA.” I enjoyed our annual Coast Guard Festival and the many wonders that Lake Michigan had to offer.
Q: Where did you go to college? What did you study?
A: I attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for my undergraduate degree and Angelo State University for my master’s in Education. I chose these degrees because I decided early in my college education that I wanted to pursue a career in admissions. I am very passionate about helping students navigate the enrollment process.
Q: How long have you been working in higher education?
A: I am what I'd like to call a “student affairs junkie.” I started my career as a student ambassador in admissions almost nine years ago. I loved it so much that I became an admissions counselor right out of college and finally found my way home to The University of Texas at Austin.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in Austin?
A: Austin is an amazing place! I love the live music you can find anywhere in the city, and my favorite comedy joint is Esther’s Follies! When you get here, make sure to find your niche because in this city there truly is something for everyone!
Advice to Prospective Students
I strongly encourage students to keep their options open and apply to many universities. Once you have applied to a great institution like the UT Austin, make sure to visit because it is the only way you will find out if this amazing campus is right for you!
