Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I attended East Central High School in southeast San Antonio. I participated in the marching band for four years so I never missed a varsity football game (Go Hornets!)
Q: Where did you go to college? What did you study in college?
A: I started my freshman year at The University of Texas at San Antonio where I changed my major about three times. I decided to take my time deciding on a major, so I transferred to San Antonio College for a few semesters. After finding a clear path to what I wanted to study, I transferred to St. Mary’s University.
I graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in public administration. I enjoyed learning the relationship between financial institutions and government. I had great professors with extensive career experience and knowledge in business and public administration.
Q: How long have you been working in higher education?
A: I stumbled upon higher education as a temporary employee with a local community college. It was then that I realized how much I enjoy working with students. I've had the opportunity to work with both prospective students and currently enrolled students.
I enjoy talking to prospective students about the University of Texas at Austin and walking them through the admission process. It is very rewarding for me to encourage high school seniors to attend college and to achieve their dreams!
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in Austin?
A: There are so many great things to do in Austin! My two favorite places to visit are the Texas Capitol and the Mexic-Arte Museum for those who love history.
Q: What is your favorite UT Austin fact?
A: There are more than 900 registered student organizations at UT Austin!
Advice for Prospective Students
It's okay to not know exactly what you want to study or major in at college. There are so many majors to explore, so take your time deciding your major and follow your passion.
Don't wait until the last minute to submit your application for admission and scholarships.
