Read and discuss a great book Freshman Reading Round-up
The University of Texas at Austin is first and foremost a place of ideas. In order to give you an early start on exploring and sharing this exciting environment, some of the university's finest professors invite members of the Class of 2011 to join the fifth annual Freshman Reading Round-Up. Members of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers and other outstanding faculty have recommended stimulating books for your summer reading and scheduled times to discuss the books with you at the beginning of the fall semester.
It's simple to participate in the Round-Up. All you need to do is browse through the list of books and descriptions, pick one you'd like to read, sign up online for the session, purchase or borrow the book, and read it before school starts in August. We're going to keep the discussion groups small, so if your first choice is already full, look for another book that appeals to you. There are plenty to choose from.

The Academy of Distinguished Teachers is composed of faculty from all over campus, from Art History to Accounting to Law. The breadth of the books they have selected reflects their varied interests and does not necessarily correspond to their academic specialty.
