The Houston Admissions Center (HAC) is your connection to UT Austin right in your own hometown. Without ever leaving the Houston area, you have access to the information, resources and admissions support you need to make an informed decision about applying to the university.

A Message from the Director

Welcome! Whether you’ve already been admitted to UT Austin or you’re just beginning to consider your college options, the Houston Admissions Center is here to help you explore the unlimited opportunities available to you at The University of Texas at Austin. I’m excited to be able to offer students and their families the resources of the UT Austin Office of Admissions right here in Houston.

Selecting a college is an important decision, so don’t feel like you have to do this alone. We’re here to help you through every step of the process. If you or your family have questions or just want to speak with us about your interest in becoming a Longhorn, call us, send us an e-mail or attend one of our information sessions held in the Houston Admissions Center.

Services Offered at the Houston Admissions Center

Admissions Information Sessions

Whether you're a high school student exploring your college options or a current college student who is interested in transferring to UT Austin, we offer information sessions that will provide you with the details you need to know about applying, the admissions process, on-campus housing, financial aid and more.

Each information session is about an hour long. Click a session link below to register (student UT EID required).

Upcoming Sessions

Information Session details

For Prospective Freshmen (Current high school juniors, sophomores, freshmen)

Are you a high school junior, sophomore or freshman, and thinking about applying to UT Austin? During this information session an admissions counselor will give students the inside scoop on UT Austin and answer questions about the university, why students choose UT Austin, admissions requirements, the application process, on-campus housing, honors programs, financial aid, testing, and other important issues for prospective students and their families.

For Admitted Freshmen (Entering UT Austin in summer or fall 2010)

If you've been admitted to UT Austin for the summer or fall 2010 and are interested in learning more about the things you need to do to enroll, register for an admitted student information session. We'll cover the checklist of things you need to take care of, and answer any questions you and your family have about what you need to do between now and the start of classes.

For Transfer Students (Current college students)

Are you currently enrolled in a college or university and thinking about applying for transfer admission to The University of Texas at Austin? During the transfer information session, an admissions counselor will answer questions regarding admission requirements, the application process, deadlines and other important issues.

Space at each session is limited so advance registration is required. If there are no sessions available, please check this page at a later date for updated info session dates and times.

School Visits

Admissions counselors from the HAC make frequent visits to Houston-area high schools to talk about your academic interests and some of the interesting things happening on the UT Austin campus.

Application Drop Offs and Roundups

Running a little behind on your application? Drop off your admissions application, high school or college transcripts, resume, essays or any other materials you’d like us to consider as part of your application. Admissions materials received at our office by the deadline are considered on time.

Application Assistance

If you have questions about the online applications for admissions, on-campus housing or scholarships, or you just need a computer with Internet access to learn more about UT Austin, stop by the HAC and use one of ours. We have space for you to work on your application, and we’ll be there to help you if you have questions about applying online.

Houston Admissions Center building

The Houston Admissions Center is centrally located near the Texas Medical Center on the first floor of the University Center Tower on the corner of Pressler and Fannin. At the top of our building you will see The University of Texas-Houston sign. Park in the parking garage in the University Center Tower, entrance on Fannin. Bring in your parking ticket and we will validate it in our office.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with the exception of university holidays).
