We bring UT Austin to the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas Valley Admissions Center
The Valley Admissions Center is your connection to UT Austin. Without ever leaving the Valley or South Texas, you have access to the information, resources, and admissions and financial aid support you need to make an informed decision about applying to the university.
What We Offer
The Valley Admissions Center offers the following services:
- Information sessions for prospective students and their families
- High school visits
- Financial aid counseling
- Admissions application assistance
- Application materials drop-offs
- Introductions to Texas Exes from the Valley
Should I meet with someone?
Admissions staff are available to answer questions about the application and enrollment process, but meeting with someone from Admissions won't impact your admission decision. Interviews are not part of the university's general admissions process.

Information Sessions
The Valley Admissions Center (VAC) offers two types of information sessions for high-school seniors and their families.
»Prospective Student Information Sessions
Are you a high school student considering a future at The University of Texas at Austin? During this information session at the Valley Admissions Center, an admissions counselor will share details about UT Austin, including why we’re consistently ranked among the top universities and are a top destination for students from around the world.
May 15, 2013 | Prospective Freshman Session (4:30 pm)
All information sessions are held in the Valley Admissions Center at 2102 Treasure Hills Blvd. in Harlingen. The VAC is located in the UT Health Science Center's Regional Academic Health Center building. If there are no sessions available, please check this page at a later date for updated info session dates and times.
High School Visits
Admissions counselors from the Valley Admissions Center make frequent visits to high schools throughout the Valley to talk about your academic interests and some of the interesting things happening on the UT Austin campus.
Financial Aid Counseling
We want to make the process of applying for scholarships and financial aid as simple as possible. That’s why we have a full-time financial aid counselor that can meet one-on-one with students and their families to discuss the financial aid and scholarship application process.
Meet Adriana Garza, the student financial aid officer in the Valley Admissions Center.
Application Drop-Offs and Roundups
Running a little behind on your application? Drop off your admissions application, high school or college transcripts, resume, essays, or any other materials you’d like us to consider as part of your application. Admissions materials received at our office by the deadline are considered on time.
Application Assistance
If you have questions about the online applications for admissions, on-campus housing or scholarships, or just need a computer with Internet access to learn more about UT Austin, stop by the Valley Admissions Center and use one of ours. We have space for you to work on your application, and we’ll be there to help you if you have questions about applying online.

Are you a Texas Ex living in the Valley or South Texas?
We need your help sharing your UT Austin experience with prospective and admitted students from the Valley or South Texas. There are many ways to get involved with our recruitment efforts, but the first step is to sign up with Exes for Texas—a program in the Office of Admissions that connects Texas Exes with prospective and admitted students. Once we know how to contact you and learn about the ways you’d like to get involved with our recruitment activities, we’ll be happy to call on you during the year.
