A Message from the Director

¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to the Valley Admissions Center web site. We are excited to be here and to be able to bring UT Austin to the border. Opening an admissions center in the Valley has been a long time coming, and there is great enthusiasm to be able to offer prospective students and their families the resources of the UT Austin Office of Admissions.

Whether you’re just beginning to consider your college options or you’ve already been admitted to UT Austin, the Valley Admissions Center’s staff is here to help you explore the unlimited opportunities available to you at the university. Selecting a college is an important decision, so don’t feel like you have to do this alone; we’re here to help you through every step of the process. Send us an e-mail or give us a call to speak with us about your interest in becoming a Longhorn.

Prospective Longhorn Information Sessions

The Valley Admissions Center (VAC) offers two types of information sessions for high school seniors and their families.

General Information Sessions cover all aspects of the admissions, scholarship and financial aid processes at UT Austin. We’ll also talk about student life, on-campus housing, the city of Austin, what it means to be a Longhorn and much more.

  • No events scheduled at this time.

"Bevo-nomics:" Paying for Your UT Austin Education provides detailed information about the financial aid application process and money management. This session includes a demonstration of how to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Each session includes a time for questions and answers.

  • No events scheduled at this time.

*A Scholarship Workshop will also be offered during the November 14 Bevo-nomics session. Work on and submit your scholarship application in our office using our computer workstations. Our financial aid counselor will be available to provide assistance and answer questions.

Registration: To register for a General Information or "Bevo-nomic" Session, send an e-mail to vac@austin.utexas.edu and include your name, the date of the session, your UT EID, high school name, phone number and how many guests you are bringing (up to two guests) when registering.

Location: All information sessions are held in the Valley Admissions Center at 2102 Treasure Hills Blvd. in Harlingen. The VAC is located in the Regional Academic Health Center building. If there are no sessions available, please check this page at a later date for updated info session dates and times.

School Visits

Admissions counselors from the Valley Admissions Center make frequent visits to high schools throughout the Valley to talk about your academic interests and some of the interesting things happening on the UT Austin campus.

Financial Aid Counseling

We want to make the process of applying for scholarships and financial aid as simple as possible. That’s why we have a full-time financial aid counselor that can meet one-on-one with students and their families to discuss the financial aid and scholarship application process.

Meet Adriana Garza, the student financial aid officer in the Valley Admissions Center.

Application Drop Offs and Roundups

Running a little behind on your application? Drop off your admissions application, high school or college transcripts, resume, essays or any other materials you’d like us to consider as part of your application. Admissions materials received at our office by the deadline are considered on time.

Application Assistance

If you have questions about the online applications for admissions, on-campus housing or scholarships, or you just need a computer with Internet access to learn more about UT Austin, stop by the Valley Admissions Center and use one of ours. We have space for you to work on your application, and we’ll be there to help you if you have questions about applying online.
