Admission, housing, financial aid, scholarships, and honors programs apply online
Becoming a university student often involves more than simply applying for admission. Prospective University of Texas at Austin students often complete several application processes as part of the admission process.
Learn about the following applications
Admission
Your complete application to the University of Texas at Austin must include
- The information you submit through the ApplyTexas Application
- Other items that must be submitted to the Office of Admissions (for freshman admission or for transfer admission)
Information about the ApplyTexas Application
The ApplyTexas Application makes it easier for applicants to apply to more than one Texas university. When you start an application online, you’ll be assigned a username that connects you to the site for all the universities you apply to. If you apply to two universities, UT Austin and UT San Antonio, for example, the information you enter as part of your UT Austin application will be shared with your application to UT San Antonio.
Your application identifier is not connected to a particular university and so is not the same as your UT EID. When dealing with UT Austin processes, such as Status Check or event or visit registration, be sure to use your UT EID rather than your ApplyTexas Application ID.
On-Campus Housing
If you want to live on-campus, you should apply for housing as soon as possible after you complete your application for admission. (Transfer applicants: visit the Transfer Housing page for information about applying for housing.)
It’s never too late
Applying early to live on campus can improve your chances of being assigned to the residence hall you request. However, it’s really never too late to apply for housing. In recent years all freshmen admitted to the university who wanted to live on campus were offered space in a residence hall.
Scholarships
Any freshman applicant interested in applying for scholarships at The University of Texas at Austin must complete the scholarship section of the ApplyTexas Application for Freshman Admission by December 1. Scholarship applicants must apply for admission online through ApplyTexas and complete the scholarship and essay sections of the application before submitting it.
Transfer applicants interested in applying for scholarships should check with the university’s scholarship office for more information.
Financial Aid
Applicants for admission to the University of Texas at Austin who are interested in financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible after January 1 of the year in which they apply for admission. The university’s FAFSA code is 003658. (Transfer applicants: Visit the Transfer Financial Aid page for information about applying for financial aid.)
Honors Programs
Entering freshmen interested in participating in one of the University’s honors programs, must complete the online honors program application and submit any additional required materials.
Transfer applicants interested in applying to an honors program must follow the application process required for the individual program.
