The University of Texas at Austin

Living on-campus can help simplify your transition to life as a Longhorn. To help you decide if you’re interested in on-campus housing, the university offers tours of Jester, San Jacinto and Kinsolving residence halls throughout the year. Room rates typically change somewhat from year to year and vary based on building and room type.

Applying to live on campus involves a separate process from applying for admission, and only full-time students are eligible to live in on-campus housing.

Applications for housing open on set dates based on the semester to which you're applying for admission:

  • Summer admission — Feb. 1
  • Fall admission — Aug. 1
  • Spring admission — Sept. 1

You must submit your admissions application before you can apply for housing. To apply for on-campus housing, follow these steps:

Part 1: The Housing Application

  • Once your MyStatus page indicates that you have submitted your ApplyTexas application, you may submit your UT Austin housing application. Transfer applicants do not need to submit everything needed for their admissions application to be complete before applying for housing.
  • The housing application does not guarantee housing.

Processing fee and waivers

  • Pay your non-refundable $50 housing application fee.
  • Online payment is preferred; pay by credit card (MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or electronic check.
  • If you are approved for an admissions application fee waiver, then your housing application fee will be automatically waived.
Part 2: The Housing Contract
