Preparing for life on campus Applying for On-campus Housing
Living on-campus can help simplify your transition to life as a Longhorn. To help you decide if you’re interested in on-campus housing, the university offers tours of Jester, San Jacinto, and Kinsolving Residence Halls throughout the year, except during the Thanksgiving holiday, semester breaks, and spring break. Room rates usually change somewhat from year to year and vary based on options.
Applying to live on campus involves a separate process from applying for admission, and only full-time students are eligible to live in on-campus housing.
You must complete your admissions application before you can apply for housing. To apply for on-campus housing, follow these steps:
- Apply for admission using the online ApplyTexas application. Indicate an interest in living on campus.
- Complete your application for admission by submitting all the required items.
- Once your Application Status Check page indicates that you have completed your application for admission, access and submit the online housing application.
- Submit a $50 housing application fee.
Contracts for transfer and upper-division students are offered based on available space. Additional housing is usually available in the spring. You must be admitted to the university in order to receive a housing contract. If you are offered a housing contract, sign it and return it with a $300 nonrefundable advance payment to the Division of Housing and Food Service.
You’ll have the opportunity to rank your residence hall preferences and list a roommate (if you have someone in mind) after you are offered a housing contract. (Requests for specific residence halls are not guaranteed.)
