Help in finding the answers… First-Year Experience
Most students arrive on campus with many questions—about school, careers, relationships and life. We may not have all the answers, but the university does offer numerous programs to help students make the transition to college life.
School of Undergraduate Studies
Unique programs like Signature Courses and First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) offer access to learning environments and situations that allow students to get to know their professors and meet other students who share similar academic and career interests. Freshmen who participate in a FIG generally have higher grade point averages than students who do not.
In addition to FIGs and signature courses, the university offers a variety of programs designed to enhance the experience of undergraduate students. Learn about all the programs offered through the School of Undergraduate Studies, including Bridging Disciplines Programs, Difficult Dialogues, Reading Round-Up, and Undergraduate Research.
Division of Diversity and Community Engagement
Some of the programs offered to undergraduates on campus through the Division of Diversity & Community Engagement are specifically designed to help the members of our diverse student body make the transition to life as a UT student.
