What starts here… Why UT?

So many things go into individual decisions about which college or university to attend that it’s really impossible to come up with a definitive list that would work for everyone. Some students make decisions based on the quality of the academic programs, some are persuaded by family and friends, and some say things just felt right from the moment they set foot on campus.
In their own words…
Hunter Matson: “…I truly belonged…”
I moved around a lot as a kid and experienced a lot of different places and Texas was the most enjoyable of all the places I had lived. I knew UT was a great university so I applied and was accepted. UT ranks among the top public universities in the country and after taking a tour of the campus, I felt like I truly belonged. Everything about the campus and Austin fit with my personality.

Britney Cooks: “…endless resources and programs…”
UT is the best school to attend because the sole purpose of the university is to help students become successful individuals. There are endless resources and programs made available for the students in order to achieve this goal.

Angie Hamouie: “I love how BIG UT is…”
I love how BIG UT is. There are a greater variety of classes, a more diverse student body, a plethora of organizations, tons of resources, the list goes on.

Liam O’Rourke: “…proud to be a Longhorn.”
Freshman orientation was my first time to see the UT campus. Since then, I have learned about the history and current standing of the university. I must note that UT is ranked extremely high in almost every conceivable category. UT has programs ranked in the top 5 that I did not even know existed before I came to school here. I challenge anyone to find an unimpressive academic program at UT. I have been so impressed with my college experience and I am proud to be a Longhorn.

Kristin Cardwell: “…the best…at the lowest cost.”
But my choice came down to the fact that UT really had the best to offer at the lowest cost.

Joe Grasso: “…everything I was looking for…”
The university offered…everything I was looking for in a college experience: top-ranked academic departments…and genuine diversity among its students. The prospect of being in the stands for Longhorn football games didn’t hurt either.

Megan Matthews: “…expand your views of the world”
People from all over the world attend the university, and they come from all sorts of backgrounds. The time you spend at UT Austin is a great opportunity to expand your views of the world!

Eric Camarillo: “…wanted to change the world in some way…”
Because the university’s motto is “What starts here changes the world,” I took this as a sign and decided to come here. You see, I applied to three different schools and was accepted into all of them. However, since the age of 15, I have wanted to change the world in some way, no matter how small. It was truly an intuitive decision. The University of Texas offers an impressive MFA program in writing, which I plan on applying to next year in December.
