Everyone’s an athlete Recreational sports & facilities

Did you know?

Ninety percent of students participate in recreational sports or use recreational sports facilities on campus.

Whether you're looking to begin a new activity or just continue one you already participate in, Recreational Sports (RecSports) is the place to start. RecSports offers six major program areas:

  • Intramural activities: for all students; tournaments and events scheduled throughout the year; select individual, dual, and team participation
  • Sport clubs: allows students to participate in a single sport on a continuing basis; over forty clubs, ranging from aikido to lacrosse to sailing, are active each semester
  • Outdoor recreation: get vertical on the indoor climbing wall, sign up for a supervised daylong or weeklong adventure trip, clinic or workshop, and check out the Outdoor Center for rental equipment and free use of the resource library to help you plan your next outdoor trip
  • Fitness/wellness: select from classes in aerobics, step, bench, cardiovascular and muscle conditioning, yoga, Pilates and water aerobics
  • Informal recreation: drop-in use of recreational facilities; reservation service available for most activity areas
  • Instructional programs: offers safety education training and classes in sports, dance, martial arts, swimming and mind/body

Whether you’re interested in the usual things like swimming, tennis, basketball, or aerobics or you just feel like climbing the wall, RecSports has the facilities and locations that make it possible. You can check out sports equipment at the Recreational Sports Center and Gregory Gym, which also rents outdoor equipment at the Outdoor Center. The Gregory Gym store also sells sports equipment, clothing, personal hygiene items, and snacks.

The newest RecSports attraction is the Gregory Gym Aquatic Complex, which offers a 12-lane lap pool, a 5,600 sq. ft. heated leisure pool, a heated spa, an event pool, a poolside café, and even wireless internet.
